Recognized internationally as a conductor of the highest level, Benoit Fromanger's wish is to bring and share at each concert his personal approach to music. Extremely talented musician, Benoit Fromanger is distinguished by rich sound aesthetics and an elegant sense of phrasing. His respect for musicians and the public, his energy, his generosity and his passion make him an unmissable conductor on international musical stages.

 

Study & solo career

Born in Paris, Benoît Fromanger studied music and  flute in Paris Conservatory with eminent teachers like Roger Bourdin and Jean-Pierre Rampal. Soloist from the Paris National Opera’s orchestra during ten years, then from the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , going alongside to conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Carlos Kleiber, Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Zubin Mehta, Carlo Maria Giulini ,Daniel Barenboim etc…, Benoît Fromanger turns to good account these experiences and studies conducting with his mentor Valéry Gergiev and  also with the famous pedagogue Rolf Reuter in Berlin.

 

Orchestras

All these influences help him to develop his sensibility ,enthusiasm and musicality .He starts to occur as conductor in many festivals and concerts where he notably conducts  the Montréal Metropolitan Orchestra, the Slovenian Radio Symphony, the Swiss Italian Radio Symphony, the Koblenz Philharmonie, the Bello Horizonte Philharmonic , Curitiba Symphony ,the Nizza Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lille National Orchestra, the Haïfa Philharmonic Orchestra, Concerts Colonne and Concerts Lamoureux, the Sinfonia Rotterdam ,the Tokyo Symphony, and the Toulon Opera Orchestra a.o.

 

Opera

On the Opera side and among another performances, he conducted the Opera of Manaus, the Opera of Bucharest, the Choir and the soloists of the Ankara Opera, he conducted the world premiere of the Oratorio « Le Mystère du Salut » under the High Patronage of Her Majesty, the Queen Paola of Belgium at the « Grandes Heures de la Cambre ».

During his performances with operas and choirs , Maestro Fromanger conducted soloists such as Angelika Kirchschlager,  Nathalie Manfrino, Thomas Hampson and major other great artists.

Benoît Fromanger was named in 2004  Professor at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, Berlin.He is since 2011  musical director and principal conductor of the Bucharest Symphony Orchestra.


Recent engagements

Concerts included Beethoven 6 with the Orquestra Clássica da Madeira; concerts with Orchestra Symphonic de Brasilia (Mozart Piano Concerto No. 21 KV 267); Goiania Philharmonic (Berlioz' Nuits d'été); Orchestra Sinfonico de Goias (Mahler 2) and recordings with Orchester du Pay Basque, Bayonne. In October 2021 Benoit Fromanger conducted a concert during the Daejeon Cosmopolitan Music Festival with great success and has given several master classes. In August, he returned to this festival again. In April 2022 he conducted the Seville Orchestra.
