Saskia Giorgini* Piano

Pianiste Saskia Giorgini is winnares van het prestigieuze Internationaal Mozart Concours 2016 in Salzburg. Ook behaalde ze de speciale Chopin-prijs bij de Busoni Competition van 2015 in Bolzano en de Tweede prijs, de speciale Mozart-prijs en de Publieksprijs bij de Amadéo Competition in Aken.

Pianist Saskia Giorgini is winner of the prestigious International Mozart Competition 2016 in Salzburg. She also won the Chopin Special Prize at the 2015 Busoni Competition in Bolzano and the Second Prize, the Mozart Special Prize and the Audience Prize at the Amadéo Competition in Aachen.

Education

Saskia, daughter of a Dutch mother and Italian father, grew up in Turin, where she started playing the piano at the age of 4.At the age of 14 she was admitted to the famous Accademia Pianistica 'Incontri col Maestro' in Imola, where she studied with Riccardo Risaliti, Franco Scala, Leonid Margarius and Michel Dalberto. She then completed her studies with special distinction at the Conservatory in Turin, and later with Enrico Pace in Italy and Pavel Gililov at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg.

Saskia regularly performs in well-known concert halls and festivals such as Vancouver Festival; Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht; Muziekgebouw Eindhoven; Großer Saal Stiftung Mozarteum in Salzburg; International Piano Stars Festival in Letland; Klassik Festival Boswil; Internationaal Kamermuziek Festival Utrecht; Internationaal Piano Festival in Wuhan, China; Lingotto in Turijn; Teatro la Fenice; Unione Musicale; MiTo SettembreMusica; Festival dei Due Mondi di Spoleto; Concerti del Quirinale (uitgezonden op Radio3); Società dei Concerti di Milano; Polincontri Classica; Amici della Musica di Padova; Amici della Musica di Palermo; Amici della Musica di Trapaniand many others.

Orchestras

In 2011 Saskia made her debut in New York with Rachmaninov Concert n.1 with the NYCA Orchestra under the direction of Matthew Oberlin and she has since been a soloist with the Lodz Philharmonic Orchestra in Poland; CBC Radio Orchestra in Canada; Liepaja Symphony Orchestra in Latvia; L'Orchestra Archi De Sono; l'Orchestra Giovanile Italiana; the Arthur Rubinstein Philarmonic Orchestra; Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra; Salzburg Soloists, conducted by Mario Bernardi, Tadeusz Wojciechowski, Antonello Manacorda, Gérard Korsten, Andrea Battistoni, Massimiliano Caldi. Her concerts are received with enthusiasm by audiences and critics.

Chamber music

Saskia is also active as a chamber musician: she regularly plays with famous musicians, including Ian Bostridge, Janine Jansen, Martin Fröst, Mario Brunello, Thomas Demenga, Gilles Apap, Friedemann Eichhorn, Dora Schwarzberg, Casal Quartett, Delian Quartett.

She has participated in the Academy of the Lockenhaus Festival, with the artistic direction of violinist Gidon Kremer and has attended masterclasses with, among others, Alexander Lonquich, Louis Lortie, Benedetto Lupo, Elissò Virsaladze. In 2014 and 2015 she taught at the Accademia di Musica di Pionerolo as an assistant to Pavel Gililov.

Highlights

Recent highlights include concerts with the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra conducted by Eliahu Impbal (Rachmaninov-Paganini variations), Sonderjylland's Symphony Orchestra conducted by Simon Gaudenz (Mozart KV491), recitals at the Liszt Festival in Raiding, which is broadcast live, in the Wigmore Hall, recordings of works by Enescu, and for example Die Schöne Müllerin for Pentatone with tenor Ian Bostridge. 

In the 2020/21/22 season, Saskia gave several recitals in the Netherlands. In addition, she played in Italy at the Stresa Festival, Ravello Festival, and the Piano Festival in Trapani. With orchestra she performed as a soloist in Nagoya, Japan in Ravel's Piano Concerto in G and at the Enescu Festival, Bucharest with the Athens State Orchestra conducted by Stefanos Tsialis in Enescu's Phantasie für Clavier und Orchester.
