Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment* Ensembles/ orchestra

 

Dertig jaar geleden wierp een groep van nieuwsgierige musici uit Londen een kritische blik op het instituut ‘het Orkest’ en besloot van met een leeg blad te beginnen. Regels werden overboord geworpen. Een enkele dirigent de leiding geven? Dat nooit! Specialiseren in het repertoire van een bepaalde periode? Te beperkend. Een muziekstuk perfectioneren en daarna verder gaan met iets anders? Te lui. The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment was geboren.

En toen dit stel met de grappige naam eenmaal voet aan de grond begon te zetten, deed men voor zichzelf een belofte. Men zwoor om vragen te blijven stellen, aan te passen en uit te vinden voor zolang als men leven zou. Het gebruik van authentieke instrumenten werd slechts één element
