Les Accents* Ensembles/ orchestra

"The ensemble lavishes the most varied flavours and textures. One is immediately struck by thevigour of the Accents' accents: the theatre that is not in the libretto is more than ever in the score when it is performed in this way. " Forumopera.com (Trionfo del Tempo in Opéra de Montpellier)

The ensemble Les Accents, founded by Thibault Noally at the Beaune International Baroque Opera Festival in July 2014, is committed to defending the vocal and instrumental repertoires of the 17th and 18th centuries; in particular the Italian sacred repertoire (Oratorio, Motet) which constitutes the keystone of its artistic project.

In opera, the ensemble explores little-known works of Italian opera seria, notably by Antonio Vivaldi, Alessandro Scarlatti, Antonio Caldara and Nicola Porpora.

The baroque violin repertoire forms the core of the instrumental project, moving from the Venetian school ("Venezia 1700", recorded by Aparté), the Germanic school (Biber, Buxtehude, Pachelbel and the Bach dynasty), to the French baroque repertoire (Leclair, Mondonville).

The ensemble made its debut in 2014 at the Beaune Festival with a programme devoted to the great ancient heroines in French and Italian baroque opera, performed by Gaëlle Arquez. As part of its residency at the Festival, Les Accents recreated the world premiere of Porpora's oratorio Il Trionfo della Divina Giustizia (Naples 1716) in July 2015 and delivered a new reconstruction of Vivaldi's Tamerlano (Verona 1735) in July 2016. In 2017, the ensemble continued its exploration of Italian opera seria with Alessandro Scarlatti's Mitridate Eupatore (Venice 1707), a true summit of the genre. In 2018, Les Accents started to work on the Handelian repertoire for the first time with Rodrigo (Florence 1707), the first opera the young composer wrote for Italy. In July 2019, the ensemble performs Alessandro Scarlatti's oratorio Il Martirio di Santa Teodosia (Rome 1683) at the La Chaise-Dieu Festival and  records the work for the Aparté label in September 2019.

Since its creation, the ensemble has performed at the Beaune Festival, the Salle Gaveau, the Chapelle Royale in Versailles, the Froville Festival, the Tarentaise Baroque Festival, the St Michel en Thiérache Festival, the Vilnius Festival, KlangVokal in Dortmund, Festival de Sully sur Loire, Festival d'Auvers sur Oise, Festival de la Chaise-Dieu, Festival de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Arsenal de Metz, Théâtre Impérial de Compiègne, Theater an der Wien, Opéra-Comédie de Montpellier.
